nk long and hard before plopping down the cash for this Abu Garcia REVO Premier. I mean, geez, I already had quite a few other reels (which, my Wife constantly reminded me about). Why did I want this reel?
I finally convinced myself I need this low profile reel on a new G Loomis rod. The two seemed as though they were made for each other.
The first time that I had an opportunity to use the pair was a fishing trip for Bass. I was slow rolling spinner baits off of ledges in about ten foot of water and targeting suspended Bass.

Speaking of casting, this thing is like a dream. Even with light lures, it was no problem getting the distance I needed with quarter ounce spinner baits. In fact, with the magnetic spool brake, I felt like I could have adjusted it so light as to throw Crappie jigs!
Another big benefit of the Abu Garcia reel was that it didn't tire me out like a lot of other reels I've used in the past. I never thought I'd find a reel that I like better than my Shimano Curado's, but after a few time out on the lake, I beginning to think these Abu Garcia REVO Premier reels can certainly replace them!
A few weeks after I first used this reel for Bass, I took it along on a Striper fishing trip on Beaver Lake. I used the reel to freeline live shad to feeding Stripers. I wondered if this smooth operating reel could handle the drag screaming runs that these fish put on.
As it turned out, I didn't have to worry one bit. The drag on this reel handled the best that Stripers up to 28 pounds could throw at it. And it handled them with ease. In fact, it even handled a huge 14 pound Blue Catfish!
To say I'm pleased with this reel is an understatement. You know, sometimes when you pay a lot of money for something, and you use it for a while, buyers remorse creeps in. You feel like you didn't get your money's worth from the product or service.
I'm happy to report after using the Abu Garcia REVO Premier reel for several months on different species of fish, there's no buyers remorse here! In fact, I felt like I received a very good value when purchasing this reel. Now my Curado's can take a rest while this bad boy gets to work out!
